C4 Tech/Performance L98 Corvette and LT1 Corvette Technical Info

My 1996 CE has drilled/slotted rotors, I believe they are aftermarket as they were never offered stock. (right?) Regardless the pads are getting pretty thin, and I was not sure what pads can/can't be used on these rotors. I do drive the car regularly, but squeeking brakes really don't bother me too much.

Team Owner

Assuming the car still has OE calipers, I'd just go with PF Z.

Melting Slicks

I'd ditch the drilled and slotted rotors and go with new blanks, but you can continue to use them if they aren't cracked. HPS is a good choice. I like HP+ better, but they dust a lot.

Stock-type pads or Semi-metallic Pads?

Stock-type pads will work fine but it really depends on how you drive the car. If you do lots of autocross events or do track days, you would want a semi-metallic pad for improved braking performance. But track days will kill the low-buck drilled/slotted rotors in no time.

Some makers of drilled/slotted rotors will specifiy what type of pads can (and cannot) be used with them.

Ceramic pads can be a good choice if you don't want dust. Look at the Raybestos ceramic pads or even the Hawk ceramics. For a good semi-metallic compound, look at the Hawk HPS pads. Very little dust, quiet, and they have excellent bite when cold. Once they get a bit of heat in them, they work very well for street use or "spriited" driving.

Hawk HPS: The Right Choice?

Hawk HPS sounds exactly what I am lookin for. thanks
Know where I can find a good price?
