Getting There**
Cafe Pokpo is located in the heart of Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. To get there, take exit #5 at Hongdae Station and walk for about 10-15 minutes. If you prefer to take public transportation, take bus number 100A or 163 from Hongdae Station and alight at IBK Hongeun-dong Branch. From there, walk back the way you came and cross the street to find the cafe.
The Main Attraction: Hongjecheon Ingong Waterfall
The main attraction at Cafe Pokpo is the stunning Hongjecheon Ingong Waterfall, which stands 60 meters tall. The waterfall provides a beautiful view while you sip on a coffee from one of many cafes in the area. What makes this place unique is that all the outdoor seating areas, including the rooftop seating, are part of the public Hongjecheon park. You can choose to sit at the terrance overlooking the waterfall and running track or head down to ground level for even more seating options.
What Else to Do
If you're looking for more things to do in the area, here are some suggestions:
- Yeonnam-dong: Located between Cafe Pokpo and Hongdae Station is Yeonnam-dong, a trendy area with bars, cafes, and restaurants that get incredibly busy during weekends. You can find our favorite samgyeopsal restaurant and Midopa Coffee House (the location for BTS V's Layover photoshoot) in this area.
- Hike through Ansan Mountain or Inwangsan Mountain: The Hongjecheon Waterfall is actually located on the edge of Yeonhui Forest and Ansan Mountain. The mountain isn't terribly high, making it an easy hike. You can also explore Inwangsan Mountain, which offers slightly tougher trails in exchange for an unbeatable view of Seoul.
- Visit Inwang Temple: Located at the top of Inwangsan Mountain is Inwang Temple, home to South Korea's oldest shaman shrine.
