5. About Us – Set Screw & Manufacturing

Set Screw & Mfg. Co. has been manufacturing slotted set screws in America since 1935! Founded in 1935 in the basement of Calvin O. Brown, our company is now led by his son, Jim Brown. Jim relocated the business to a 25,700-square-foot manufacturing facility in Elgin, IL, which employs nineteen people. We currently stock over 500 different sizes and styles of set screws, ready for immediate shipment.

With our fleet of 46 Brown & Sharpe machines and 88 years of experience, you can rely on us for high-quality, timely delivery for both large and small orders. Whether you need 5 pieces or 50 million, we are your one-stop shop for set screws in low carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, brass, bronze, aluminum, and special materials.

Set Screw & Mfg. Co. is committed to exceeding our customers' expectations with our products and services. We aim to achieve total customer satisfaction by continuously improving our quality system, setting and reviewing quality objectives, and addressing any processes that fail to meet requirements.

Our standard product line includes slotted headless set screws, short-run square head, and chamfered studs in various point types: cone, flat, cup, knurled cup, and custom designs per print. Our 46 Brown & Sharpe single turret screw machines are capable of producing thousands of screws daily. We also utilize four thread rolling machines to fully thread twelve-foot bars for further processing on the Brown & Sharpe machines.

Additionally, we have established relationships with quality overseas suppliers for large quantity orders of hex socket set screws, square head set screws, and slotted headless set screws when the country of origin is not a concern.
