======================================================
Domino Printing Sciences is a well-established company that has been at the forefront of printing and coding solutions for over four decades. Founded in 1978 by Graeme Minto, the company has evolved significantly since its early days as an industrial printer hardware manufacturer.
History
Domino's journey began with the exploitation of continuous inkjet technology (CIJ) in the late 1970s. By 1984, the company had shipped its 1000th printer, marking a significant milestone in its development. In 1985, Domino was listed as DNO on the London Stock Exchange, further solidifying its position in the industry.
In the following years, Domino continued to expand its product offerings and geographic presence. The company acquired Directed Energy, a small laser marking business based in California, United States, in 1994. This marked the beginning of Domino's foray into the laser printing space.
Acquisitions and Partnerships
Domino has been active in the market through strategic acquisitions and partnerships. In 2004, the company acquired Wiedenbach, a supplier of ink jet printers, and Purex, a supplier of fume extractors for laser printers. The following year, Domino acquired Sator, a supplier of laser printers.
In 2006, the company acquired Enterprise Information Systems, an RFID specialist, further expanding its capabilities in the field. In March 2015, Japan's Brother Industries announced its intention to acquire Domino Printing Sciences PLC for £1.03 billion (approximately $1.55 billion). The acquisition was completed on June 12, 2015.
