Solving Connection Issues between Simatic S7-1200 CPU and TP700 Comfort Panel

In this article, we will explore the connection issues that can occur when trying to set up a connection between a Simatic S7-1214 DC/DC/DC CPU and a TP700 comfort panel. We will also provide solutions to overcome these challenges.

The Problem:
When trying to send something from the PLC (CPU) to the HMI (TP700), nothing is happening. However, when simulating the runtime on the PC, the commands from and to the CPU are working fine, indicating that the problem lies with the HMI itself.

Initial Troubleshooting:
To troubleshoot this issue, we tried turning off all security settings for both the HMI and CPU connections and still, the connection was not established. This suggests that there may be a compatibility issue between the firmware versions of the HMI and CPU.

Firmware Downgrade Solution:
After further investigation, it was discovered that downgrading the firmware of the HMI from V17.0.0.0 to V16.0.0.0 resolved the connection issues. This suggests that there is a compatibility issue between the firmware versions of the HMI and CPU.
