Long Beach, California – The city of Long Beach is set to welcome a new addition to its downtown area: the Hard Rock Hotel. This 26-story hotel will be located at 100 E. Ocean Blvd and will feature 429 rooms, including suites with stunning ocean views.
"We're thrilled to bring this iconic brand to Long Beach," said Steve Goodling, President & CEO of the Long Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau. "The additional hotel rooms are going to enable us to pursue larger conventions that previously would not have been able to come to the city."
Gregory L. Steinhauer, president of Steinhauer Properties, the project's developer, revealed that there are plans to incorporate the historic Jergins Tunnel, which lies under the property, into the hotel and redevelop it as a small speakeasy venue. The tunnel, built in 1927, was used to provide safe pedestrian access to the beach and Pike amusement zone before being closed to the public in 1967.
The hotel will also feature a restaurant called Sessions on the main floor, as well as an outdoor pool on the sixth floor. This marks only the third Hard Rock location worldwide without a gaming element, joining properties in New York and San Diego.
Steinhauer explained that Long Beach was chosen for this project because it is a great location. "Hard Rock is a world-class brand," he said. "This is going to bring international recognition to the city, and it's going to enhance the downtown and convention center while adding another dynamic to the music scene."
Long Beach has a long history of producing talented musicians, from Jenni Rivera to Snoop Dogg and Sublime. The Long Beach Arena, located just a few blocks from the Hard Rock site, has hosted some of the biggest names in rock music over the years.
"This will be such a perfect addition to the city," Goodling said. "The tower is beautifully designed, with a three-story atrium overlooking Pine Avenue and Ocean Boulevard. It reminds me of the hotels in New York that overlook Times Square. It's going to add an additional element of sophistication and coolness to the downtown area."
