Superstar Gemini: A Legendary Cruise Ship with a Rich History

The SuperStar Gemini cruise ship was a beloved vessel that had been sailing the seas for over three decades. With its rich history, luxurious amenities, and stunning entertainment options, it's no wonder why this ship earned its reputation as one of the most popular in the Genting Hong Kong fleet.

From Norwegian Dream to SuperStar Gemini

The story of the SuperStar Gemini began back in 1992 when the vessel was built by Chantiers de l'Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France. Initially named ms Dreamwar, it was designed to sail for Norwegian Cruise Line. However, in 1998, the ship underwent a significant transformation, including lengthening and renaming to Norwegian Dream. In 2012, Star Cruises acquired the vessel and renamed it SuperStar Gemini.

Amenities and Activities

The SuperStar Gemini offered an impressive array of amenities and activities for its passengers. The ship had 765 staterooms in 14 categories, ranging from cozy inside cabins to luxurious Junior Suites with separate lounge areas. Onboard dining options included multiple restaurants, bars, and buffets, ensuring that guests could indulge in a wide range of cuisines.

The ship also featured extensive entertainment venues, including the Star Club Casino, Maxim's Lounge, and Stardust Lounge, where passengers could enjoy shows, karaoke, and flexible Chinese acrobatic performances. The ship even had its own private rooms for parties, making it an ideal choice for special occasions.

Itineraries and Deployment

Throughout its years of service, the SuperStar Gemini operated in various regions, including Asia and the Mediterranean. In 2017-2018, the ship was homeported in Laem Chabang-Bangkok, Thailand, offering 3-night roundtrips to Sihanoukville Cambodia and Koh Samui Island.

In 2018-2019, the liner was redeployed to Malaysia (ports Langkawi, Port Klang, Penang) and Thailand (Phuket), with 3-night itineraries mixed with special voyages visiting Langkawi, Port Klang, Penang, Phuket, Krabi, and Singapore.
